Description | Very weak constellation, between Ursa Maior and Auriga. It doesn't contain particularly remarkable objects; interesting is only a triple star, 12 Lyncis, whose principal component is a white-blue star of fifth magnitude, accompanied by two stars of sixth and eighth magnitude. | ||||
Mythology and history | The constellation was drawn in 1687 by Johannes Hevelius. He explained that the name of Lynx was suitable for this constellation because only who was lynx-eyed was able to see it. |
